HOW TO COMMISSION A PORTRAIT
Step one
Look through my price lists and pick what kind of portrait you want to commission. If you need help choosing, let me know and I can advise on what portrait type would be best for you based on your budget and reference photo.
Reference photos
Photoshoots!
I offer photography to those within driving distance of Wallasey. I recommend this if you do not have professional photos of your horse or pet, or do not have a camera to take high-quality pictures with. If you wish to have the reference photos taken by me, please let me know when enquiring about a commission and we can arrange the date, location and a quote for the photoshoot.

What's included?
-
High-quality photos will be taken on my Canon DSLR.
-
All images will be digitally corrected.
-
I will help you pick out the best reference photo for the portrait.
-
You will receive the images via email once I have completed your commission.

Step two
Tips for a good reference photo:
-
Natural lighting (outdoors or by a window).
-
At eye level with your horse or pet.
-
High resolution so that fine details/hairs are visible when zoomed in.
-
Use a toy/treat so that your horse or pet is alert, with their eyes open and ears forward.
-
A 3/4 angle is usually best, take multiple pictures and I can help pick the most suitable for the commission.
How to send me the photo:
-
Attach the images in an email to phoebedisley@gmail.com when you enquire about a commission.
-
Share the image directly from the device that the photo was taken on.
-
Please don't use a screenshot/downloaded picture from social media, or that has been messaged to you from another device as this compresses the image and massively reduces the quality. This makes it extremely difficult to work from and I cannot draw all of the details accurately.
-
If you are using photos taken by a professional photographer, it is your responsibility to ask permission for them to be used as a reference for your portrait.

Step three
I will grid and draw the initial sketch before taking a 50% non-refundable deposit. Payments are to be made via bank transfer. I will continue working on your portrait as soon as the down payment has been received. You will receive progress pictures throughout the drawing/painting process.
Once you have confirmed that you are happy with the finished portrait, I will fill in a certificate of authenticity with your chosen title for the artwork. The remaining 50% is to be paid before I post the artwork to you. The portrait will be delivered first class, Royal Mail. If you are commissioning from overseas, you are responsible for paying any customs fees/tax if this applies. I will send you a picture of the postal receipt and tracking number as proof that the artwork has been posted.
Step four
Once you receive your portrait, please let me know what you think. I'd love to see it framed and hanging in your home, or pictured with your horse or pet!
